Trust in the chaos: my experience with mothers, restless babies, and holistic care

As a nurse specialized in maternity, mother, and child care, I have had the privilege of guiding countless mothers over the past 30 years during the most intense period of their lives. From preparing for childbirth, the first weeks with a sometimes restless newborn, to the search for peace in motherhood—these are themes that deeply move me and that I approach with passion.

Too little time and too much unrest

The reality is often harsh: in healthcare, there is too little time to truly be with a mother. A baby who wakes more often is quickly labeled “a restless baby,” while there is often much more behind it. The same goes for a baby who isn’t rolling over at six months: many worries arise, while every baby has their own pace. For the mother, this often means extra stress and insecurity, especially in a period that is already so sensitive. Many mothers struggle with the expectations placed on them by healthcare and society; with the idea that everything needs to follow a fixed schedule. This pressure only makes motherhood heavier.

Childbirth: planned cesarean and other options

A planned cesarean section also raises many questions. What does it mean for the birth, for mother and child? What options are there? I guide mothers through this with clear information, practical tips, and especially calm. Sometimes you have little choice, and a planned cesarean can be a unique birth experience that parents look back on with a good feeling. There is so much more possible than the standard care with medical protocols—a step toward something that creates trust and peace.

Holistic care: close to mothers at home

What distinguishes my work is the holistic approach. I visit mothers at home, look at the whole picture, and show how a baby who is restless and sleeps poorly can gradually become a calm, sleeping child. This creates space and breathing room for the mother, who is often overwhelmed by her new role. It goes beyond solving one problem. It’s about trust, peace, and proper knowledge—knowledge I have built through years of experience as a specialized nurse/baby consultant, but also as a mother of four children. This combination gives me the strength to support mothers practically and emotionally.

A practice full of stories and connection

The many families I have supported often share the same desire: they seek balance in the chaos, understanding, and recognition. A place where they are not sent away but seen as people—mothers with their own stories. That is what Moederkracht stands for. Every mother deserves that personal attention and expert guidance that goes beyond protocols and time slots. Motherhood is so much more than care alone. It is an intense, vulnerable, and beautiful journey in which trust and connection are key.
